The Bald Eagle
The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus)
is the only eagle species living strictly in
North America. The Bald Eagle can have a
wing span of up to eight feet and can weigh
up to 15 pounds. Bald Eagles can live up to
40 years in the wild and longer in
captivity. The Bald Eagle was officially
declared the National Emblem of the United
States in 1782. The Bald Eagle has since
become the living symbol of the U.S.A.'s
freedoms, sprit and pursuit of excellence. |
